Designed by Sir Arnold Thornley in the Greek classical style and fronted in Portland stone. It was opened by Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) on 16 November 1932.  The grounds are open to the public and is a popular destination for walkers and joggers.  There is also a playground and picnic facilities
