Named after the previous owner, Muriel was a hat maker and her old shop is now home to this trendy little bar in Church Lane.  It’s more like a bar you’d find in Paris or Austria, and it attracts a more mature crowd – all coming for the decent cocktails, good beers and lovely food served upstairs.

The best time to go here is on a Saturday afternoon – it’s not as busy as it can be in the evenings, which is good as it’s pretty small.  The owner also has a bar called the Spaniard which isn’t far away, and like Muriel’s is a bit quirky and different.
